American Corner Pattani
On February 17, 2005, Ms. Patricia de Stacy Harrison, Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, cut a ribbon to officially open the American Corner at Prince of Songkhla University, Pattani Campus. American Corners provide information about the U.S. using reference resources and high-speed Internet access. They help graduates of U.S. Government exchange programs stay in touch with each other and their friends and their colleagues in the United States. American Corners also host and conduct various public programs including video screenings, discussion forums, and digital-video conferences. In addition to the books and reference materials that fill every American Corner in Thailand, six computers connected to the Internet allow American Corner patrons to quickly find information about the U.S. on the world wide web. State-of-the-art video conferencing equipment permits each American Corner to conduct meetings with others around the world. American Corner Pattani has been open for service since January 26, 2004.
